Isn’t it about time we looked at Facilities Management differently?

Yes, you can wrap this up into SLA’s, KPI’s and PMS’s but you still need evidence. So back to the hair analogy. It’s been cut. I can see the grey hairs on the floor, but that’s not all the evidence that should determine whether I pay for the services rendered or not. Am I completely satisfied? Has the barber fulfilled every aspect of my brief – the specification? That’s the evidence that prompts me to pay. I’ve still got both ears, my haircut is ‘even’ and in the style discussed. He’s clearly taken about an inch off, as instructed (yes I know we’re decimalised), my wife is happy and hasn’t collapsed in a fit of hysterical laughter on the floor, finger pointing in the direction of my new ‘barnet’ (and yes she still accompanies me to the barber). All is good.

Maintenance and Facilities Management can and should be the same … don’t you agree?

Let’s wrap this up. A major life safety company mentioned to me recently that their client, who uses an ‘Urbanise.com’ solution, are light years ahead in understanding more about their systems and asset performance then they do. Now that’s bad for the company who related this fact to me, really bad news for them in fact, but that’s typical of the industry we are in. And, in my extensive experience of facilities management, for the majority of buildings, clients are paying for services that simply are not being delivered efficiently and effectively. In simple terms, the ‘asset’ is not being ‘optimised’ and, at the very least, there is a total absence of good, reliable and accurate data generated in order to take an informed view of the building’s performance.

Welcome to the real world. It’s costing you ‘big time’, and that’s where Urbanise.com comes in.

So what is the ‘Urbanise.com’ CAFM solution? It’s about effortless tracking of planned and reactive maintenance, real time insight into asset performance, and building/workforce management delivered through a single integrated platform. It’s about reduced operational cost and flexible, easy to use templates – making implementation user led, rather then system driven. It’s about complete visibility of attainment of service levels and performance management and real time dynamic reporting – giving owners, managers, service providers and customers’ complete visibility of activity… and much, much more.
